Painter, Photographer, Textile artist, Printmaker, Visual artist, Designer · Taylor, United States
I paint buildings because they are a reflection of a soul.
Over time, structures absorb the lives of their occupants — their joy, their grief, their secrets, their love. For more than five years I have been returning to New Orleans to paint its extraordinary architecture, drawn not just by beauty but by what I feel in those walls. The ironwork balconies of the French Quarter, the grand Garden District mansions, the candlelit corners of the oldest streets in America — each one holds a story, an energy, a presence.
As a formally trained artist and art educator, I paint what most people can only see. My expressive style seeks not photographic accuracy but to explain the feelings of a subject. I focus on leaving a feeling with the viewer.
